Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) surgery is a highly effective, quick, and safe refractive procedure that can permanently correct a patient’s vision. During the 15-minute procedure, an implantable contact lens is placed in between a patient’s iris and lens without compromising the corneal tissue. As a result, the heal-time is very fast! Some patients even resume normal activities only a day after the surgery! Additionally, the procedure does not cause or exacerbate dry eye, an issue that some patients experience after LASIK surgery.
The advantages of ICL surgery do not stop there! ICLs typically have a UV blocker in them, which reduces the chances of developing eye conditions such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Although ICL surgery is designed to be a permanent solution, the ICL may be surgically removed or replaced without harm if necessary.
