Vuity Eye Drop For Presbyopia

I would like to introduce the recent launch of Vuity (pilocarpine ophthalmic solution 1.25%) eye drop, the first and only eye drop specifically designed for the treatment of presbyopia in adults. 

What is the dosing?

Vuity is a once daily prescription eye drop that works in as quickly as 15 minutes and lasts up to 6 hours to improve near and intermediate vision with minimal to no impact on distance vision.

How it works?

Pilocarpine is the active ingredient in Vuity and works by contracting the iris sphincter and constricting the pupil to improve near and intermediate visual acuity while maintaining some pupillary response to light.

What are the clinical trials?

The FDA approval of Vuity is based on two pivotal clinical studies, GEMINI 1 and GEMINI 2, which evaluated the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Vuity for the treatment of presbyopia. In both studies, Vuity improved near vision in low light conditions.

Any adverse events?

The most common adverse event (>5%) were headache and eye redness. This was temporary and resolved when patients discontinued using the eye drop.
